Child Rights and You (CRY) is an Indian NGO that works towards ensuring happier childhoods for underprivileged children, across the country. CRY works with the most marginalized children within their families, communities and societies to bring about a permanent change in their lives.
For 40 years, CRY has worked in 23 states and changed the lives of 3 million children for the better. CRY works to identify the root causes that keep children away from proper education, healthcare, nutrition and a safe and secure environment to grow up in. By finding solutions to those causes, CRY ensures happier childhoods and a brighter future for these children.
Our impact in 2018-19:
Children impacted: 353,166Children in schools: 170,231Villages made free from child labour: 149Villages made free from child marriage: 377
At CRY, we are committed to our vision for a happy, healthy and creative childhood for every child. CRY strives to ensure children in our projects have access to free and quality education, primary healthcare and are safe from violence, abuse and exploitation. We also work towards reducing the rate of child malnutrition and make sure children’s voices are recognised in issues that affect them.
Charity’ alone is not a lasting solution to enable change for the millions of children living in India today, who have little or no access to food or education and are exploited daily. A rights-based approach ensures that entitlements are available to all children without any discrimination. They are universal and non–negotiable. Along with our project partners, CRY ensures that the government fulfils their duty by providing the necessary infrastructure and services as per the needs of the people and at the best quality possible. We believe that the best interest of the child needs to be put at the centre of all policy, legislation and practices affecting their lives and constantly work towards it.
Donations to this NGO have 50% tax exemption for Indian donors.
